For her…
I’m not really a country music girl - at all - but today… every word of this.
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth makin’
Don’t let some Hellbent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin’ out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along)
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder, where those years have gone?)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance…

Whitney Houston’s isolated vocal track on “How Will I Know.”
Truth.
(Source: icanhasinternets.com)
I did this cover last year and decided to remix it a bit. Still feeling the learning curve of self-production and mixing. I like to use covers to practice. Flex a bit…
Gotta say, much happier with it. Though it’s a double edged sword doing a cover. If people know the original song they will feel a familiarity but also compare your rendition without realizing they’re doing it. Well. I do hope you like it.
The original of course is by Goapele. Such an absolutely beautiful song.
I make a lot of things. I love art in all its forms and communication, equally. Where art, communication, and technology converge: that’s where I’m happiest. I know I can’t be “the best” at everything… but I can be good at a lot of things and do what makes me happy. I’m Alana, not Madonna… and I’m perfectly comfortable with that.
That being said, the creation… and the sharing… is a vulnerability that I have pushed myself to face. The more I make to leave behind, the more I’ll linger in people’s minds. May your soul be naked.
Close your eyes and see what you believe…
Thank you.
To my family, blood and otherwise…
To the friends who have been there for me through it all…
To 50,000 people who follow me for some reason on Twitter, Tumblr, and G+…
To the lovers, the haters, and the instigators…
To the new people who have come into my life and made it better…
To the life and love I have yet to make:
Thank you.
Oh snap! New track coming along FEROCIOUSLY!!!
Break beats, not hearts.
Vroom!
Their basement is officially cooler than mine. (Taken with instagram)
Don’t Make Me Destroy You: a little sample of what I’m working on… #music #breakbeatsnothearts
☞ Waste: Foster The People
I know, I know… This is my third Foster the People song I’ve posted in the past like, week: but I’m admittedly obsessed. The more I listen to it the more “Pumped Up Kicks” seems like the unfairly favored child.
