I just finished making my first ever hand bound book, using the Coptic stitch. (This tutorial was *very* helpful, however I used book board for my covers rather than the back of a sketchpad. I wanted a stronger weight. Either is great though, up to you!) I plan for it to be an art journal/junk journal with a mix of collage, painting, drawing, doodling, writing, and whatever else strikes me… but I wanted it to be more personalized than it would had I gone with a store bought sketchbook. I also wanted the pages to have a variety of textures and patterns so I could use a range of mediums and to encourage inspiration. The pages I used are a mix of watercolor paper, novelty scrapbook pages, magazine tears, and office log pages. I can’t wait to start adding stuff to it now! I’ll be sure to post my progress.
